I returned to the place where we had scattered his ashes : a deep blue sea close to a barren rocky island. We chose this place because we would often go spearfishing around there. A week before his memorial anniversary, I had an image of diving down with a stone as deep as I could and then letting it go. Constructed over a ten-year period, To Drown a Stone is an intimate visual journal that started when I accompanied my father passing away. Using the natural elements as metaphors for what cannot be spoken, it explores grief and the reconciliation with impermanence.
