Stories of Borders
2009-2015
"Stories of borders" brings together my work on borders and migration in Greece. From the transit state in Patras to the fragmented lake of Prespa, from xenophobia in Athens to the detention centers at the edges of the European fortress, they speak of elusiveness: borders are not only fixed lines but they move and change, marking people, walls and memories. Both at the EU's gateway and a fortified outpost, Greece is at the centre of the media spotlight. The various themes give a perspective on this territory that looks back through six years of research along its borders, on the people who live and cross them. The images and stories bear witness to the absurdity and cruelty of these physical and intimate barriers.
